The Bas Relief effect transforms an image to appear as though it were carved in low relief and lit to accent the surface modulations.
Detail
Move the slider to the right to have the resulting image surface contain more detail and to the left for less detail.
Light Position
Choose the position from which to sidelight the image, thus enhancing different carved areas.
Smoothness
Move the slider to the right for an overall smoother surface and to the left for a less smooth surface.
The Bas Relief effect uses the host program's current foreground and background colors (if available) to render the final result.
Tips
• To accentuate the effect that the image is sculpted in stone, apply the Texturizer effect using the Sandstone texture (or others) after the Bas Relief effect to texture the surface.
• To create metallic 3D text when using a host program: Type the text, deselect the text, select the characters with the magic wand tool (if available), then apply the Bas Relief effect. To obtain a different color, set the foreground color in the host program to the desired color.
• To energize plain black-and-white images, apply the Bas Relief effect to them.
